2) Hair Health

Prior to your appointment, focus on maintaining healthy hair. This means using quality hair care products, minimizing heat styling, and avoiding excessive chemical treatments that could weaken your hair.

3) Wash Your Hair

It's typically recommended to arrive at the salon with clean, dry hair. However, don't wash it on the same day as the appointment. Natural oils can help protect your scalp during the coloring process.

4) Maintenance Plan

Be aware of the cost of balayage and any subsequent maintenance appointments. Balayage, while lower maintenance than some other coloring methods, may still require touch-ups or toning sessions.

STYLIST TIP

Before your appointment, use a deep conditioning or strengthening treatment recommended by me. This helps fortify your hair, making it more receptive to the balayage process and reducing the risk of damage. It also promotes a healthier, shinier result.

Your Balayage Appointment

1) Color Application

I will meticulously hand-paint the highlights onto your hair, tailoring the placement to your preferences. I'll then use foils, brushes, or freehand techniques to achieve the desired effect.

2) Processing Time

You'll spend some time waiting as the color develops. The length of this processing time will depend on your hair's starting color and the desired end result.

3) Toning & Rinsing

After the color has processed, I may apply a toner to perfect the shade. Your hair will then be rinsed and shampooed.

4) Styling & Aftercare

Your appointment will typically conclude with a professional styling session, where I will dry and style your hair to showcase the balayage's full beauty. I will also provide guidance on post-appointment care and maintenance.

Maintaining Your Balayage

1) Use Color-Safe Products

Invest in sulfate-free, color-protecting shampoos and conditioners. These products help prevent fading and maintain the vibrancy of your balayage.

2) Reduce Washing Frequency

Try to limit hair washing to 2-3 times a week. Less frequent washing helps preserve the color and natural oils that protect your hair.

3) Cold Water Rinses

After shampooing, rinse your hair with cool water. Cold water helps seal the hair cuticle and lock in the color.

4) UV Protection

Shield your hair from the sun's harmful UV rays by using hair products with UV protection or wearing a hat when outdoors.
